Joi made a splash at NAN 2005 when dozens of people asked to hold and look at her closely. She's only 1-3/4 inches tall (1/47th scale), but she wows everyone with her detail. |

She features correct muscling and structure, expressive eyes and tearbones, mare anatomy under
her tail, and even a full udder with tiny nipples! Joi may be close to foaling, but that won't stop her from expressing her Arabian
spirit with her nose in the air and her tail over her back like a peacock.
Joi was inspired by a real Arabian mare named Fadjurs Joi, a daughter of the legendary Fadjur and Saki. All the Fadjur-bred horses at Jack Tone Ranch in Stockton, California, have the same beautiful type, Arabian fire, and gentle spirit. They are not the enhanced, artificial type of halter Arabian -- they're natural, athletic, and representative of what many of the early foundation Arabians were like in the U.S. If you ask to see the Tones' horses at liberty, you'll see exactly what I was trying to capture in the Joi sculpture. |
